Course Description
Today’s 24 hour media has an insatiable need for content to either fulfil greater consumer expectations or to pursue a particular angle on a story to gain commercial advantage. Increasingly organisations require senior executives, without previous training to present critical information via the media.
Screen Media Lab’s 1 day course will enable delegates to:
- Understand the need to use the media to promote the work of their organisation and demonstrate greater clarity about what they and the organisation are looking for from an interview
- Understand how to manage difficult questions and maintain a cool head
- Understand what the news media are looking for from an interviewee
- Be able to demonstrate greater confidence in approaching radio and television interviews and be confident during interviews
- Be able to talk about their work / experiences in a way that will engage a radio or television audience
- Be able to identify key messages within their areas of work and understand how these can become ‘stories’ for news media
- Be able to sum up those key messages (or areas of work/experience/expertise) concisely
- Be able to evaluate their own ‘performance’ during interviews and identify to which (if either) medium their interview style is better suited
