Description
The nationally renowned Insight Out course is branching out and providing an incubation hub – business space and advice – for start up businesses in Birmingham. This is part of the BSEEN project, funded by Birmingham City Council.
The Insight Out 2010 training programme will help you to build your confidence and entrepreneurial skills, provide you with a dedicated office space to launch your business and introduce you to the NESTA business models, which will help you make the most of your ideas.
PLUS
- £3000 bursary awarded to participants over 6 months*
- Access to free office space for 6 months at City North Campus
- Up to 18 hours of one-to-one support from coaches and mentors over 6 months
- Networking opportunities, access to contacts and regional support
*based on attendance of training and attending incubation space two-days a week.
Pre-Requisites
Applicants must have graduated from a degree, full NVQ Level 4 or equivalent within the last 4 years and have a Birmingham address.
What You Will Learn
Month 1:
- 2 days on generating ideas
- 4 days on business models (originated by NESTA) and elevator pitches
- Visit from an external agency
Month 2:
- 1 day on finance
- Half day on intellectual property
- Half day case studies
- Visit from an external agency
Month 3:
- 1 day on marketing
- Visit from an external agency
Month 4:
- 2 days on presentation and negotiation skills
- Half day on CV and portfolio presentation
- Visit from an external agency
Month 5:
- Half day case studies
- Visit from an external agency
Month 6:
- 1 day on using social media as a business tool
- Half day case studies
- Visit from an external agency
A speed networking event for all intakes will take place in February 2011.
